Folkboat

I bought this boat in 2021 as a project to repair and then sail onwards.

The core of the boat was assessed as very solid but there had been the typical deck leakage around the shroud attachment points leading to some damage to the wooden pieces below the deck so we embarked on this project.

The history of this boat is interesting as the first owner was the guy who built it and it was very well made. You can find info here:

Due to a few life changes, I can no longer complete this project so am looking to sell it onwards to someone who might recognise the value and want to undertake the job to get this great boat on the water again.

The boat is at the Kuggom boat school near Loviisa.

The deck was removed and various repairs begun. Most damaged pieces have been cut away, paint & varnish removed, sections rebuilt and surfaces prepared for the rebuild.

The remaining works to be done include completion of rebuilding frame structures and board sections on both sides, replacement of about 5 ribs, replacement of deck & fittings, varnishing and painting etc.

All pieces of the boat have been kept and accounted for and I have purchased many of the things required to get the boat back in shape already (eg. entire roll of Rocoslip deck cover material) and these will come with the boat.

The mast was damaged when I bought the boat so I bought another (Folksboatcentralen?) second hand which is in very good condition and also came with new boom. The boat now has double rigging due to the mast swap.

Sails are in reasonable condition and I have had small sections repaired professionally. There is a main sail, jib and spinnaker.

The ideal purchaser for this boat is someone who has the expertise (or access to expertise) to complete the remaining repairs and sees the value in the solid foundations of the boat. Having been previously owned by the sea scouts, it was well rigged and setup and can be this again.

The boat is now wrapped for Winter outside the boat school at Kuggom and sits on its own cradle.

Please get in touch if you think this might be something for you. I am deliberately leaving the price open because I want to see what interest there is. I will need to charge something for the boat but the main thing is that it is not a wasted one as it has much potential and is a project that can be completed to make a wonderful Folkkari that will last for many more years.

If I cannot sell it as a whole, I will have to sell the mast and other pieces separately, but this would be a pity so I hope not!
